Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a conjoint child and parent psychotherapy approach for children and adolescents who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events. This online TF-CBT course shows step by step instruction in ten modules for each component of therapy. According to the introduction on the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy website it states that, ââ¬Å"There is strong scientific evidence that TF-CBT helps children, adolescents, and their parents overcome many of the difficulties associated with abuse and trauma.â⬠This is a very detailed online course that gives live video examples on how each process is done. Although my agency is for patients who are eighteen and older, the techniques shown in this course can still be extremely helpful. My agency is for chronic illness patients who need to be stabilize. Patients at Broward Health Medical Center (BHMC) can be very child-like disorganized, and at times vulnerable to society due to their mental illness. With that said, patients are still victims of sexual abuse and physical abuse. Starting with Psychoeducation it is important for patients to be informed on the traumatic events that they have experienced. They should be taught about sex awareness and body awareness. We have patients who are on sexual precaution as well as patient who have been raped or sexually assaulted.
